NEW YORK- A group of students from the Florida high school where a gunman killed 17 people has visited the Sept. 11 museum.
About 60 students who are in a band at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School toured the museum on Wednesday.
The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Wind Symphony schemed the visit long ago, after getting invited to perform in a high school band showcase Tuesday at Carnegie Hall.
But the trip-up to the National Sept. 11 Memorial and Museum took on a deeper personal dimension after the Feb. 14 rampage at the school in Parkland, Florida.
Senior Ridley Hutton says the museum is testament to Americans’ resilience and what happened in his hometown is an example of it.
He says “we’ll come back.”
